The Spaces in Between 

In between thoughts
In between actions
In between knowing
In between worlds

There is a space of the unknown.
There is a space filled with emotions, sensations, mystery and intuition.
There is a space of transience, transition and infinite possibility.

Last year my mother died very unexpectedly.

This traumatic event flipped my world upside down.
Everything that I seemed sure about, everything I had confidence in, suddenly fell apart. I felt like I was left in a big empty space, confused and naked, in between the world of the known and unknown.

The paintings and photographs in this show all portray a sense of an in between space. They are static images of a moment in time, yet the moment is filled with possibilities of change, transition and transformation.  In all areas of my life, I am in a process of re-birthing.  In my painting practice I am opening into new areas of experimentation and creation and have a lot of different projects on the go that are just beginning. What you see here, are works from the spaces in between that are reflective of the process of uncertainty and exploration...the process of building a foundation of awareness to give way into something new.
