2006
This is Bachan's first self-produced album and it is a favorite of many. It is a soul-filled blend of Gurmukhi Shabads (Devotional Sikh songs)
and english songs. The melody and vibration of each song came to life
while on her bicycle, walking in the forest or in meditation. She
received so much joy and love from singing these sacred songs that she
wanted to share them with the world. The songs were recorded with deep
prayer and bliss in her bedroom.
Each song is unique and provides the space for relaxation into the
soul. The simplicity and rawness of the sound makes them all the more
real, and increases their capacity to penetrate the heart. Musically
her voice is supported by the Guitar as well as some tabla by a friend
Harnarayan Singh and other electronic and organic sounds composed by
the artist.
"Bachan Kaur's "Soul Songs" can only be described as sent from heaven. Her voice sends you to a destination of peace, unconditional love &
joy. The songs created a space for me to experience unity with infinite
self and sent me into a state of deep gratitude. Her Cd helps me to
remember my relationship to grace, divinity & devotion. It is truly a blessing and a gift that every spirit should hear." ~Sharon Tron/ Charanpal Kaur, Gibsons, British Columbia
Soul Songs is the start of what Bachan plans to be a lifetime of sacred
sound offerings. It is a great compilation to use for yoga classes,
meditation or for listening anytime or place to merge with the
sweetness of the soul. There are Shabads in Gurmukhi inspiring
devotion, there is a beautiful rendition of the bountiful, blissful and
beautiful mantra, as well as a deeply meditative instrumental track.
The album also features a special song "Brightest of Eyes"
dedicated to her Spiritual Teacher, Master of Kundalini Yoga, Yogi
Bhajan. The song came to her while meditating on him during the one
year memorial of his passing. back to top
